The beginners’ group is run by the band’s principal cornet, James Dennis. The group currently numbers ten players aged from 5 years upwards and new players are always welcome (many of our beginners have now progressed to our training band, so we have plenty of room!). The oldest beginner we have ever had was 78, so it is never too late to start!
The beginners’ group rehearse in our band room every Monday (except bank holidays and between Christmas and New Year) between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and we provide free tuition and a loan of an instrument to anyone wishing to learnt to play a brass instrument for the first time.
